Hii sorry, it's my first time buying games..

So do I have to buy it from here in order to get the steam key or i still can get it even if I buy it from steam?

Steam keys are just a way to get a game from Steam without needing to go through the purchase process directly on Steam. If you'd prefer to play OBSCURA on Steam, I'd recommend buying it there to reduce the potential for complications. The only exception is for people in Germany and China; OBSCURA is blocked for sale on Steam in those countries, so you'd have to buy the game on itch.io.

I would like to buy the game on Steam but unfortunately due to it's missing age rating I 'm even not able to have access to the Steam shop website of it. Is there a way to solve it?

Ah, I'd guess you're from Germany or China? Steam has OBSCURA blocked in both of those countries because it claims the game has "frequent sexual content". We disagree, but Steam gave the game a high age rating and has refused to lower it.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about this right now. You can buy the game here on itch.io (sorry about the lack of regional pricing, we'd turn it on if it was an option) and you will get a Steam key with your purchase that should work like normal, but that's the only option we can offer right now.

So it means because you disagree you won't change the age rating then or is it more likely a Steam problem? It's not an accusation from my side I'm just curious.

If I understand correctly, I will get the Steam key even if I buy Obscura here?

You should get a Steam key if you get the game through Itch.io, yes. You'll have to connect your Steam and Itch.io accounts (it's in the setting menu), and then on the download page there will be a button for getting a key.

And to clarify: Steam is the one that decided our age rating. We wanted a lower rating.

Love the game and almost completed all of it! However I'm having trouble getting ending 29 with Kier D: any tips on how to get it? I've looked at the guide and it's kind of confusing. I'm also missing the last CG on the second page, does anyone know how to get it? Thanks and so excited for the next chapters :D

Ending 29 requires a little bit of bad luck to find. In the guide under Ending 27, there's a choice that has a 1/3 chance of going badly, and you need to get that in order to get enough "noise points" to reach Ending 29.

As for the CG, that's found in the Extra Story. There should be a button for it on the Extras menu after you've hit a good or neutral end for all four boys in Chapter One (if it's still not there, try running through the game credits at any ending and see if it's unlocked then).

Thank you!! I’ll get them tonight :D

I am curious, do you know how many chapters this VN may be?

(Also, I love there are episodes where you can date the MC/Vesper too.   Just think that is really cool.  Hope there ends up being  more episodes of this and/or etc.  If not, I am happy w/ what u have already given us as well).

Think this VN is really cool and interesting so far.

Has an interesting concept/premise to it.

I love how u can pick different masks and even different outfits (even if it doesn't show up on the sprite) later on.

And I really like the different guys and routes as well.

Will be watching this VN for more updates and/or chapters, and waiting (patiently).

We've got three chapters planned per character. There's one left for Cirrus and Keir, and two left for Oleander and Francesco and we're working to make it happen 💪

Thank you and nice!

Excuse me, may I ask does the protagonist have any exact gender or it's non binary?

Players can select which pronouns the protagonist uses, and there's a couple of choices where the player can choose an outfit (not shown on the sprite for scope reasons) where they can decide whether to lean more masculine or feminine. We don't have a set or default gender for Vesper.

ohh I see, thank youu so much for the explanation ✨💗

i want to get the game but couldnt understand the difference between the steam and itchio version; if i understood correctly if we buy at itchio we get full access to the whole game when it finishes, is this correct? and if it is, does it also include purchasing the game in steam or we get only ch 2 on steam and later might need to purchase the later chapters? hope i could explain myself correctly, i cant wait to get the game just indecisive about the platfrom

Hi. I'm a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and I'd like to talk about translating your game. I'd appreciate it if you could hit me up.

Hello! We're not currently looking for translation or localisation services at this time, but thank you for the offer.

Hello! I have to say, your game is amazing!

I was wondering if you guys have an email for contact since the one in "about" doesn't seem to be working :')

(+2)

Hello! Our email address is for @gmail.com, and our name for that account is rottenraccoons1

Sorry for being a bit obtuse, we just want to avoid being put onto spam lists if at all possible.

Not at all! In fact that's a good thing! I just realized I read the 1 was an L, that was on me haha! Thank you for the answer ^^

Hello!I can't find a Get key button below the list of files even if I have connected my itch to my Steam. It‘s  something wrong?

(+1)

Hello! There's definitely something odd happening in this case, but I'm at a loss as to what it could be. The only thing we can do on the backend is turning key distribution on and off and add more if we're running out, so I'm afraid there isn't a lot we can do directly. If you scroll to the bottom of this page, you'll see Itchio does have a small section on why you might not be receiving a key despite it being included, though none of the main reasons should apply to us (we're not participating in a major charity bundle at the moment, and we still have plenty of keys left to redeem in the system).

The best suggestion I can offer is to follow Itchio's directions and reach out to support (there's a link to the support page in the FAQ I linked before). They're in a better position to answer your question at the moment.

Thank you for your reply! I've emailed the support staff.Hopefully things will work out:D

Hi! I want to know if you have any update about the problem? I have the same problem and have already contact support staff but sadly still haven't got any news from them.

Update: They have responded and fixed mine :D

I have the exact same problem which is sad because I only bought it for the key. Did the support staff help you in any way? :D

hi , how will i be able to access the other files if i purchased it from steam ? i love the game to death and i even made it my priority to be my first ever purchase online . i cant wait for the coming chapters !

(+2)

I'm not sure what you mean by "other files"?  If you're looking to access the pdf guide for Chapter Two, it's already up on Steam under the "Guides" tab, should be pretty easy to find! If you're wondering how you'll access future chapters, they'll be added automatically in Steam.

yes that's what i meant thanks a lot

Out of ccuriosity, a bit confused, will the price of the game go up when it's completed, if so what is the point of buying it now? sorry if that seems rude

(+3)

Hi! We will probably raise the price of Obscura once it's done, but people who buy it before that won't have to pay again. Consider it a small "thank you" discount for anyone buying the game before it's complete. Since we're not doing crowdfunding like Kickstarter or Patreon, letting people buy the game in Early Access is also how we've chosen to let people support us during development.

If you want to wait for the game to be finished before buying it, that's a pretty reasonable decision, too!

(+1)

Hello! I just bought and downloaded the game but unfortunately I can't find the steam game key anywhere! I already looked under downloads and everything. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the page itself? :0

(+1)

Hello! When you can't find the key there's two things to check first:

1. Is your itchio account connected to your Steam account? You can connect them in your settings (the "connected account" menu, then use the Steam button), and they need to be connected to redeem a key.

2. Be sure you're checking the right place. At the top of the OBSCURA page should be a grey bar informing you that you've already purchased the game, with a link to the download page. The Steam key redemption button can be found below the other download options.

If you've cleared both of those hurdles, then I'm less certain about what could be going on. There are plenty of keys left to claim, at least.

(1 edit) (-1)

I also did not receive a Steam key as part of my purchase! I wonder if it had anything to do with the sale? I purchased another game earlier with no issues.  Update: After reaching out to Itch.io support, they said it was an error on their end & fixed the issue. :)

(+2)

Feral for this game to an unhealthy degree, I'm afraid. Bought on steam and kept gushing to my friend about it. I'm enjoying all the routes but Oleander's my fave
