I cannot access the community guide on steam anymore although I enabled mature content in my store and community preferences. somehow, tinkering with the available settings doesn't seem to change anything, and I suspect it has something to do with my store region being germany (or maybe not and steam is just silly as always). anyways, I would appreciate that a lot!

hello! i was also browing the Steam Community Hub for the updated guide but i think something may be broken. i can see other parts of the Community Hub for Obscura (as it also requires Adult Content to be enabled) but specifically just the guides section is empty. it seems like maybe this is affecting newer/recently updated games? i cross checked with a few other 18+ games. it would be very helpful and appreciated if the updated guide could be listed under itch downloads as a workaround ^^

So Steam gave us a high age rating for sexual content (which we think is very silly, Obscura is mature but there's no explicit sex in the game right now), which got us geoblocked in Germany and China. We disputed the rating, but Steam stuck to their guns, so there isn't much left for us to do at the moment. Sorry.
The good news is that you can buy the game here on itchio, and at the time of writing the exchange rate really favours the Euro, so the game is actually a little cheaper here than on Steam. You can also redeem a Steam key here with your purchase that should work like normal; you'll just need to connect your Steam and itchio accounts, which you can do on itch in your account settings.
The free version contains Chapter One for each of the love interests and is basically a demo of the game. The paid version currently has Chapter Two for Cirrus and Keir, and will eventually have all three chapters for each love interest. When you buy the paid version here or on Steam you get access to the two new chapters plus all future chapters as free updates.
Absolutely amazing VN, and thank you to itch.io for existing because Germany is being Germany on Steam and it would be such an incredible miss out on this amazing VN. Hyped for updates, hyped for merchandise.

We're currently working on getting Oleander's second chapter out, and then Francesco's right after that (Chapter Two should hopefully be done this year, so long as no one gets struck by a meteor!). Then we'll shift production towards getting everyone's third chapters out. I wish I could give you a more specific answer, but since we only work on Obscura in our free time, it can be hard to give any specifics that we'll be confident in.

We're can't really talk about discount specifics due to Steam's rules, but I can confirm that we plan on discounting the game whenever an event comes up (if you check something like SteamDB, you can see our historical trends of games on sale, which may help!). Seasonal sales, some events, the Otome Game Celebration that just happened, all good reasons to have a discount for a little while!

NOT ONLY FOR KIER THOUGH, NO! NO, THAT WOULD LET MY ACHY BREAKY HEART REST FOR BUT A MOMENT! - OLEANDER. NEED I SAY MORE. As a matter of fact, I do, I do need to say more. But I can't for at least 2 business hours because I am going to send myself into cardiac arrest and I don't have insurance so that would suck.
Hey!! I bought this game about 60 days ago, and recently I realized that I could get a Steam key for the game, but I can't seem to find it. I connected my Steam account to my account and looked at the download page. I was wondering if that's maybe because when I bought the game when it was discounted. If so, I will just repurchase the game on Steam, truly a peak game, so I wouldn't mind much. Thanks!
To the best of our knowledge (and I did email itch.io's support about this) getting the game on discount shouldn't block you from getting a Steam key. They did mention that some people have their Steam account and itch.io account attached to different email addresses and that can cause problems, but unfortunately that's not something I can help troubleshoot. Here's their troubleshooting page on Steam keys to double-check, and if that doesn't help then I suggest emailing support (there's a link to that in the final section of the troubleshooting page).

Wow, I really loved the chapter 2 updates. I wasn’t initially sold on Keir but this made me fall in love with him. The CG was lovely. He’s deceptively cute, and now I wish the gap between my teeth was wider.
Cirrus was a bastard from the start, a lovable bastard but still. He’s magnetic. I always think it’s fun when a character fucks with the UI/choices. The ending with Francesco… ugh he’s such a good boy :’) This route has a lot of great tension; the meter freaked me out the first time I saw it. CG was gorgeous. I didn’t understand the ending until playing Keir’s route. I audibly said, “no fucking way,” to my computer.
I’m really excited to follow this. I anticipate Oleander’s story the most!! He is my husband actually <3

The ending guide is just up on Steam's guide section. You may need to adjust your Store Preferences to allow it to show mature community content.
