March round-up

You know how the phrase is “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”? Well, that was kind of the opposite for us here in the raccoon den! March opened with all five of us busy busy busy in our non-raccoon lives, and at the end of the month we’ve come back to Obscura, excited for what’s in store!

But even though we were busy, that doesn’t mean nothing happened. First off, we were on sale for almost half the month, thanks to a confluence of events on Steam! We got to take part in the Women Led Games and Steam’s VN Sale event, plus the spring seasonal sale. Things should simmer down for a little bit now, but we’ll be keeping our eyes open for more cool events in the future. Hopefully all you new players of Chapter Two are enjoying being able to go on a second date with Vesper now!

In the world of art, Mugi’s currently waiting on product samples to make sure they’re up to her standards, so she turned her attention to doing some backgrounds. This one is a background for a place you might be returning to in Chapter Two, but also have the opportunity to visit in Chapter One (the background will be added to demo, too, when the Chapter Two release comes out).

Mugi’s skill with jewel-toned colours knocks me on my butt every time, wow.

And Tobi managed to find the time for some Francesco! As you might imagine, frolicking with him through the marketplace can be pretty fun. There’s no snippet to share this time, but rest assured that there’s some cute stuff happening!

On Oleander’s side there’s not much to report, but since I didn’t want to leave you without something to read, here’s a very optional script snippet from his route, where Vesper is asking an information broker about what fire means to the market.

On a more sentimental note, it’s hard to believe it’s been three years since we put out Flamebait Dating Sim as a goofy tribute to our love of romance games and also to affectionately tease our friends. Rotten Raccoons has been good to us as a creative outlet and way to express our love for a genre of game all about love (not to mention a basis to a lot of our friendships) and your support has been incredible and encouraging to us.

To the folks who started with us three years ago: thank you, your support means the world to us. To everyone else who’s joined us on this wild ride: we’re so grateful to have you here with us. To everyone: we hope the work we do continues to make you happy, whether it’s butterflies and doki-doki excitement, or a darker sort of thrill. Happy three years of Rotten Raccoons! 🎉

Lots of love,
The Rotten Raccoons team 💙🦝
